Responsibilities:
1. Food Sorting and Packaging: You will assist in sorting and organizing donated/purchased food items, ensuring that they are properly labeled and stored. This may involve categorizing perishable and non-perishable items, checking expiration dates, and packaging food into individual portions.
2. Food Distribution Assistance: You may participate in the distribution of food to individuals or families in need. This could involve working at a Community Center, Grace Place or VFW where you will help set up distribution areas, assist with registration, and distribute food with care and respect.
3. Client Assistance and Support: As a volunteer, you may interact with individuals receiving food assistance, offering a friendly and compassionate demeanor. You may answer questions, provide information about available resources, and offer support to clients during their visit.
4. Adherence to Safety and Hygiene Protocols: Maintaining a clean and safe environment is essential. You will be responsible for following safety guidelines, including proper handling of food, wearing appropriate protective gear, and adhering to sanitation procedures.
